DGA Golf just around the corner.

Friday, July 23rd, 2010 at 11:13 pm | RSS FEED

Well it is that time again. The next DGA is just around the corner (a week to be exact). If you haven’t already register up and see you there.

I have gotten a LAN server for BadCompany 2 and will work unless they roll out a server update. Expect to play.

We have a mouse (MX518*) and keyboard (G11*) to give out some time during the night. * providing they ship in time.

Guys it has also come to my attention that there has been a few people taken over by a Steam Comunity Scam – you may have noticed if you have been online in the last few days that there have been some people linking you to websites claiming they give you free games and whatnot. Please before you click the link and submit any information. Check the URL (its the http://www thing) if it does not say www.steamcommunity.com do not log into it with your steam details.

The site will generally log your information that you put in. Then logs into your steam account sending more links to all your friends and all of your mates in your groups. And at worse they will then try sell your account or play with hacks on it and get your games banned.

Just a healthy reminder from Lothar – Cya guys at the next LAN

    no quake 3/live?…

I can get up a server from sydney / adeliade / perth in quakelive with password. as you can’t host a lan game in qlive yet. Adelaide is the best choice since Darwin gets lowest ping there of 55/60ms

    Twice for me lol.

(Also to that comment) – In some cases each machine should have a diff port number, I got my main account banned from QL because i had mine and my bro’s on, connected to the one server on one external IP. Punkbuster banned my account. :/

Hi, Just a question as I am new :) Do you ever have internet nights or play games which require the internet as opposed to lan connections.

I ask this because of Starcraft 2 which does not support LAN. And because there is an upcoming Starcraft 2 Australian Competition which you might like to consider as a Gaming Centre: Check out this link: http://www.cybergamer.com.au/forums/thread/154771/Sydney-Dandenong-join-the-StarCraft-II-CG-Live-ladder-$6500/

It sounds like a lot of fun and any gaming center across Australia can join all they have to do is ask, and set up for the competition. I thought it might be a good way to get us Darwinites known a bit better. Anyhow, it’s just a thought. Thanks for listening. :)

I realise Starcraft does not fully support LAN play – However from a few posts that I have read all it needs is Internet connection to Authenticate you – If you are all on a LAN party sopposedly the connection is all through the LAN and does not go out to the internet. I will test this out before friday when I pick up my copie.

But as with the internet at DCA it is only about 4Mbps down and 500Kbps up which may only be able to support 4 people on Starcraft online at once if it does not have the lan data.

So we shall See and I hope to see you down there :D

Thanks for your reply Lothar. I unfortunately will not be able to make it this Friday as I only joined this week and have a previous engagement all weekend (playing starcraft :) ) with a bunch of mates. But now that I know what you do I’ll be looking forward to joining in next time. Sounds like a lot of fun. PS. Look out for me on Battlenet same avatar “SSRat” and I’ll give you a game. My real name is Christopher Ballantyne email: cjljball@yahoo.com.au

SSRat stands for: The Stainless Steel Rat :)

I shall find you later on tonight. Cheers for posting that Link – DGA has talked to the guys who run the tournament but it is a hard sell to get involved in the tournament as we would have to face up some prize money. You guys will hear more of this after Fridays Event.

Hi all is there going to be a Company of Heroes multi-player on as well as TF2
    see ya all!!
P.S Boy it can not come fast enough can it.
Thought for the day; When does a sleep in become a coma

Hi. Here is a good suggestion why don’t you make a sub-division in DGA that targets computer and network problems for just members only, that way it leaves more time to game on during the night you could also make that a forum.
The other way is to associate yourselves with another forum that deals such problems. give thoughts
    See ya.

I just Installed COH also. If SC2 is a bust on the lan which it may be… (due to battle net 2.0) I will be fireing up for some Panzafurst Rushing ;)

As for the subsection or whatnot for issues and the likes – are you referring to say a forum type thing at the LAN or say an external forum to GU?

There is forums on Facebook if you want that other kind of function. Otherwise if you want something slightly different maybe an internal IRC server may be warranted. However don’t be shy – come and ask I am sure I wont bite your head off…
